About Jay

Jay Vosper began her hair journey in downtown Soho, NYC where she quickly established herself as one of the top colorists, stylists, and educators in her salon, as well as a national artist for Loreal Professionnel. Although her specialty is hair color & balayage, she is well-rounded in all things hair having worked the majority of her career behind the chair, on stage, and behind the scenes as a stylist as well. Jay has had the opportunity to travel to most US states educating colorists on stage and in the classroom as well as in Europe, namely Switzerland.

She's had the opportunity to create looks for collections in the salon and for hair companies and enjoys the fast-paced energy at NYFW. Being on the pulse of fashion herself, Jay always brings a fresh approach to hair and is usually ahead of the trend. Her passion behind the chair is to provide her clients with the most customized beautiful hair color and style attainable. She believes hair is a woman’s crown, every woman deserves to be empowered by it, and hair should always accentuate the individual’s best features and personality. From the latest trends to classic styles, Jay always gets to know her client in order to personalize each look.

Q&A

What inspired you to become a hairstylist?

I was in college and taking care of my mom who battled a rare disease…. getting her up in the morning and doing her hair and makeup was a day changer and mood lifter and I thought “I want to make people feel better every single day” so I decided to graduate college and go to cosmetology school in NYC.

What is your favorite thing about TCR?

The energy.

Favorite color trend and favorite service?

Trends constantly change so I’m not committing to one…I love them all and how they eventually come back in style with a twist. For instance: I’ve personally had some form of curtain bangs and/or a fringe for 13 years + but now the look is on fire again.

What celebrity is your ultimate hair icon/inspiration?

Brigitte Bardot.

What is your go-to hair product you can’t live without?

Dry texture spray.

Best general hair advice you could give to anyone?

Wear the hair that best suits you and makes you feel amazing inside and out.
